Monday February 22, 2010 February is our busiest month - so far!
February 2010 is a huge month for ITV Fixers. We are launching for the first time in two new ITV regions – Granada and Yorkshire. From this week an unprecedented FIFTEEN items will be screened across EIGHT ITV regions between Monday 22 February and Friday 5 March.

Cambridgeshire Fixers are introducing a new lesson to schools....how to add up your carbon footprint. Natosha and Stephanie are creating educational packs to teach kids about the harmful effects of carbon emissions. As ITV Fixers they are bringing their campaign to life by creating two cartoon characters...the Carbon Monster and Iggy the alien.

Back to top Central: Drop Knives
A group of Coventry teenagers are so concerned about the number of knives on their city streets they have launched a campaign to encourage offenders to drop their weapons. As ITV Fixers they have made a film and presentation which they are taking into schools to reach young people to spread the message that carrying a knife will either lead to jail or tragedy.

Back to top Meridian East: Keep Dreaming
Kyle Simmons (21) grew up in care and had a difficult childhood. As an ITV Fixer he is filming a music video to accompany a rap track he has written entitled ‘Keep Dreaming’. Now a drama student in Southend, Kyle hopes to use this video to reach out to some of the 90,000 children who pass through the care system each year to boost their self confidence and inspire them to aim high.

Young musician Ross believes there’s nothing for teenagers to do in Weymouth. As an ITV Fixer he's putting on an event to offer them a night of entertainment. It will feature eleven local bands and all the organisational has been undertaken by young people. Ross hopes this will encourage the local council to hold more regular youth events in the seaside town.

A childhood growing up amid bombings and gunfire in a country wracked by civil war could have a lasting damaging effect on a young person. However, 23 year old Bristol Fixer Sarah is using her early experiences of life in Algeria to positive effect. She's written a song called Dark Places about her childhood, and is including it as part of a music workshop to inspire young women to turn bad experiences into positive ones.
